Those who support Black Lives Matter
The Black Lives Matter Movement stemmed from the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter. This hashtag was created after a young black teen by the name of Trayvon Martin was shot by a civilian named George Zimmerman, who was a neighborhood watch captain. People were enraged because Zimmerman got off on a self-defense charge and no justice was served for Trayvon. The co-founders of the movement: Alicia Garza, Opal Tometi, and Patrisse Cullors established the position of the movement, which is to “bring attention to issues of injustice plaguing black people in the United States”. The movement's main goal is to make the public aware of the injustices that black people face every day so that we can improve and move forward from the ills that people of color should not have to deal with.
